This shawl is constructed using a traditional Shetland method. The center triangle is worked from the bottom up first, beginning with 1 stitch. Stitches are increased by working a yarn over at the beginning of every row. For the edging, stitches are then picked up from the yarn over loops on the edges of the center triangle, and the edging section is worked perpendicular to these stitches and attached at the end of every other row.

There are two sizes for this shawl and either can be knit in sport or lace weight yarn using the appropriate needle size to get gauge.

The stitch pattern in the center triangle is a twisted stitch pattern called Chain Mesh adapted from Norah Gaughan’s “Twisted Stitch Sourcebook”.
