This kit is for the yarn only 

The Hairst Vest Kit is worked in Jamieson's of Shetland Spindrift and comes in two colorways.

Colorway 1: Gudrun's Dark Background, Grouse (MC), Hairst (CC1), Burnt Umber (CC2), Burnt Ochre (CC3), Ruby (CC4), Nutmeg (CC5), Moorland (CC6) + Salmon (CC7)

Colorway 2: Mari's Light Background, Pebble (MC), Eggshell (CC1), Mooskit (CC2), Mogit (CC3), Moorit (CC4), Fjord (CC5), Lomond (CC6) and Yellow Ochre (CC7).

Here is the breakdown of yarn in each size:

MC: 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) (5, 6, 6, 6, 7) balls.
CC1 and CC2: 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 2, 2, 2) balls each
CC3, CC4 and CC6: 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) balls each
CC5 and CC7: 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 1, 2, 2) balls each

Recommended to be worn with approx 1–2” / 2.5–5 cm of positive ease.
Shown in size 3 with 2” / 5 cm of positive ease at chest.

Yarn: Fingering-weight yarn in the following amounts:
MC: 365 (390, 435, 465, 535) (575, 595, 650, 685, 735) yds / 335 (355, 400, 425, 490) (525, 545, 595, 625, 675) m.
CC1 and CC2: 65 (70, 75, 80, 95) (105, 115, 135, 145, 155) yds / 60 (64, 68, 74, 86) (96, 105, 124, 132, 142) m each.
CC3, CC4 and CC6: 75 (80, 90, 95, 110) (120, 130, 150, 160, 170) yds / 68 (74, 82, 86, 100) (110, 118, 138, 146, 156) m each.
CC5 and CC7: 40 (45, 50, 55, 70) (80, 90, 110, 120, 130) yds / 36 (42, 46, 50, 64) (74, 82, 100, 110, 118) m each.

Darker Version: shades Grouse (MC), Hairst (CC1), Burnt Umber (CC2), Burnt Ochre (CC3), Ruby (CC4), Nutmeg (CC5), Moorland (CC6) and Salmon (CC7).

Lighter Version: shades Pebble (MC), Eggshell (CC1), Mooskit (CC2), Mogit (CC3), Moorit (CC4), Fjord (CC5), Lomond (CC6) and Yellow Ochre (CC7).
Needles

US 3 / 3.25 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm or 40” / 100 cm length (for hem and button bands).
US 3 / 3.25 mm circular needle, 16” / 40 cm length (for arm bands).
US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle, 32” / 80 cm or 40” / 100 cm length (for body).
US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle, 24” / 60 cm or 16” / 40 cm length (for upper shaped body).

US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needle any length (for working Three-Needle Bind-Off).

Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions

6 stitch markers (one of which should be unique for beg of round), scrap yarn / stitch holder, tapestry needle, 5 (5, 5, 5, 6) (6, 6, 7, 7, 7) buttons (⅝“ / 1.5 cm in diameter) or desired number of buttons.
Gauge

27 sts & 32 rounds = 4” / 10 cm over Fair Isle Pattern on US 4 / 3.5 mm needles, after blocking.

28 sts & 37 rounds = 4” / 10 cm over 2x2 Rib on US 3 / 3.25 mm needles, after blocking.
